Interview Tips
Working Solutions wants you to have all the resources you need to present yourself in the best light possible.
The following are a list of tips that will help you increase your hiring potential during your next interview:
- Speak Smart: How you speak is a direct reflection of who you are. Speak confidently, use proper English, and avoid speaking too quickly or softly.
- Ask Questions: Always arrive at an interview prepared with some intelligent questions to ask about the company you are interviewing with. This shows initiative on your part, and the answers may reveal important information about your potential employer.
- Stay Focused: Remember that the person who interviews you is still human, and their attention span may be limited. Try not to talk too much; keep your answers brief and to the point. Make sure you give direct answers to direct questions, and stay on topic.
- Personalize: Making sure you stand out from the crowd of other applicants can be an important key to getting hired. Make sure to emphasize your unique qualities and strengths, and take opportunities to mention personal goals, hobbies, and interests that will set you apart from the competition.
- Set the Standard: Always put your best foot forward. When in doubt, over-dress rather than risk appearing too casual. Always offer a firm handshake and make eye-contact. If you take the interview process seriously and treat it with respect, there is a good chance you will be respected and seriously considered for the position.
- Follow-up: It's always good to follow-up an interview with an appreciative email or phone call thanking your interviewer for their time and interest. This won't guarantee that you'll be hired, but it often improves your image and lets them know you are seriously interested. Be careful not to drag it out though, a brief thank you should be sufficient.
